Hair Regeneration

About Hair Stem Cells

In our bodies, there are cells with the ability to regenerate and replenish lost cells to maintain tissues that constantly replace themselves, such as skin and blood. These cells with such abilities are called "stem cells." Stem cells must have the following two abilities: the ability to generate various cells such as skin, red blood cells, and platelets (differentiation ability), and the ability to divide into cells with the same abilities (self-renewal ability).

Stem cells are broadly classified into two types. One is "tissue stem cells," which replenish cells lost in specific tissues or organs such as skin and blood. Tissue stem cells generate only cells with specific roles, such as hematopoietic stem cells that generate blood cells and neural stem cells that form the nervous system. The other is "pluripotent stem cells," such as ES cells (embryonic stem cells), which can generate any cell in the body. Pluripotent stem cells can also generate various tissue stem cells in the body. iPS cells (induced Pluripotent Stem Cells) are "pluripotent stem cells" artificially created based on normal cells. Research is underway to utilize the characteristics of these stem cells in new treatments called "regenerative medicine," where cells themselves are used as drugs to treat injuries and diseases. Additionally, research is being conducted to reproduce the state of cells in the body to investigate disease mechanisms.

Prevention of Hair Loss

About Alopecia

It is said that the total number of human hairs is about 100,000 to 150,000, and they stop growing once they reach a certain length. In men, this period is 2-5 years, while in women it is 4-7 years. Hair growth stops near the hair bulb, enters a regression phase of about three weeks, then a resting phase, and finally falls out. All hair cycles through this process, but excessive secretion of male hormones, stress, and poor blood flow to the scalp can shorten the growth phase and accelerate hair loss.

Treatment Methods

The bulge area at the base of the follicle contains "hair follicle stem cells" that generate hair through cell division. When the function of these hair follicle stem cells declines, the hair cycle does not proceed normally, and the transition from the resting phase to the growth phase stops. At our clinic, we directly inject adipose-derived stem cells into the scalp to activate hair follicle stem cells, normalize the hair cycle, and promote hair growth. By injecting stem cells, the "precursor cells" around the hair roots are activated, and the growth factors generated by these cells act on dormant hair follicle stem cells, promoting their transition from the resting phase to the growth phase.

At Indiba Clinic, we use the latest stem cell therapy technology to improve alopecia and prevent the progression of hair loss.
